Cowboys give huge Dak Prescott injury update ahead of Week 7

There is now are further indications that quarterback Dak Prescott will return to play for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 7.

The Dallas Cowboys have done their part ever since quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a right thumb fracture in the season-opener. They had won their next four games with Cooper Rush starting in place of Prescott. But in a pivotal game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys lost 27-16 to fall to third place in the NFC East.  There had been positive updates regarding Prescott recently, but fans received two tremendous updates on Wednesday.

First off, there were plans for Prescott to resume his media sessions on a weekly basis, starting this Thursday, as Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram points out.

Then, head coach Mike McCarthy told the media that Prescott had officially been medically cleared to return to play. That puts him in line to start in the team’s Week 7 game against the Detroit Lions.

This is certainly good news for the Cowboys, as they try to keep pace with the undefeated Eagles and the 5-1 New York Giants in the divisional race.

Having Prescott on the football field is huge for Dallas. While yes, Rush did perform admirably in his five starts and got the team four wins, they need their starter to compete to keep them afloat in the NFC playoff picture. There is a strong likelihood that three teams in the NFC East could make the playoffs this season.

Prior to his exit in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Prescott completed 14-of-29 pass attempts for 134 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception.

Prescott is on pace to play against a Lions team that is returning from their bye after getting shutout by the New England Patriots the week prior.
