Tampa Bay Buccaneers center Robert Hainsey didn’t react how most would expect over teammate Tom Brady’s outburst at the offensive line.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers center Robert Hainsey didn’t have the most typical reaction to teammate Tom Brady’s outburst at the offensive line. While most would probably get frustrated or annoyed with Brady for such a reaction, Hainsey praised him for it.
According to Jenna Laine of ESPN, Hainsey stated, “Everyone can call it what they want, but I want nothing else from a quarterback than that — than the guy who’s wanting to tell us what we need to do and step up. If he was just sitting over there and not get us going and not try to help us — he wouldn’t be who he is today.”
He also went on to say that Brady is the best teammate and leader there is. He said, “I love that from him. I know we all love that from him. It might look weird on TV, but that’s football. That’s what you want from great teammates and great leaders, and he’s the best there is.”
Brady was a natural leader with the New England Patriots for two decades, so there’s no surprise he’s taking that to Tampa Bay as well. He is truly one of the best players and leaders in the NFL, though he can be a little bit cocky at times (cue the efforts to trademark the term ‘Tom’pa Bay).

There are two sides to every story, and Brady shared his side on his Let’s Go! podcast as well.
Brady shared:
“I’m a quarterback. I’m not expecting the right tackle to do it. I’m not expecting the running back to do it. I’m not expecting the receiver to do it. I’m expecting myself to do it. I’m the one out there speaking in the huddle, calling the plays. That’s what my job is. To try to get us going and to try to rally us. And there’s a lot of ways to do it. And sometimes it’s some positive encouragement, which you do a lot. Sometimes it’s, you know, getting on people and trying to raise the level, the sense of urgency, and raising my voice and trying to create a different vibration for the whole offense. And that’s (ultimately) what you’re trying to do.”
Though his method of motivation was slightly controversial, it was effective. The Bucs lost 20-18 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they put up a hard fight. Brady is a leader through and through, and he helped bring the Buccaneers to the playoffs two seasons in a row after not having gone since 2007.
He also helped the Bucs win the Super Bowl, their second in franchise history. Clearly, he’s doing the right things for the team, even if he may not always express himself in the best ways.
