This Is How Rihanna Did Her Makeup for the Savage x Fenty Show
Rihanna has been very busy. Two weeks ago, she released her first new song in…a while. She finally gave her eager fans some insight on motherhood and her son, who was born in May, and somehow Rihanna still managed to go all-out for her Savage x Fenty Volume 4 show. The show, which can be viewed on Amazon Prime Video, showed off the newest collection of Rihanna’s lingerie line in the most Rihanna way possible–with dancers, out-of-this-world sets, and a few surprise guest appearances.
Rihanna herself stunned in a blue and black corset, but her makeup look may have stolen the show. Priscilla Ono, Rihanna’s longtime makeup artist and the global makeup artist for Rihanna’s line Fenty Beauty, was responsible for creating the iconic look. “This year’s show has a magical feeling–there’s a sense of surrealism in the performances, from the set to the dancers’ movements,” Ono said in a statement provided to ELLE. “We wanted that sentiment and aesthetic to transcend into the makeup, so you’ll see a lot of iridescence and ethereal color splashes on lids and lips and, of course, soft, radiant skin.”
Skin prep was an essential step in creating the glowing base underneath the makeup. Using the Fenty Skin line, Ono prepped Rihanna’s face with the Pre-Show Glow Instant Retexturizing 10% AHA Treatment, the Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum, and Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer SPF 30. Ono used the Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream for an ultra-hydrated sheen for her body.
More From ELLE
For the makeup, Ono used the iconic Fenty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in the shade Trophy Wife on both the eyes and in the center of the lips, creating a frosty, extra pouty appearance. The moody, dark brown lipstick was courtesy of the line’s refillable lipstick, Icon Semi-Matte Lipstick, in the shade She A CEO. Ono kept it classic for Rihanna’s complexion with some foundation, concealer, and an extra dose of the Fenty Diamond Bomb All-Over Veil.
Looking for more affordable options? Try swapping out Fenty’s golden Killawat Freestyle Highlighter for the Maybelline Golden Halo eyeshadow. To mimic RiRi’s coffee-toned lipstick, try the NYX Shout Out Loud lipstick in the shade Cali to save a few bucks.
