Vikings put Patriots in their place on Thanksgiving: Best memes and tweets

The Minnesota Vikings scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to defeat the New England Patriots on Thanksgiving.

The Minnesota Vikings had a short week to try and get back into the win column after suffering a devastating 40-3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday. On Thanksgiving, they hosted a New England Patriots that defeated the New York Jets 10-3 by way of a game-winning punt return.

Minnesota scored 10 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to secure the 33-26 victory over New England to improve their record to 9-2. Trailing 26-23, the Vikings responded with 36-yard field goal by Greg Joseph and a 15-yard touchdown reception from Kirk Cousins to Adam Thielen to take the lead with over nine minutes remaining.

After the Vikings took a 16-13 lead in the second quarter on a T.J. Hockenson one-yard touchdown reception, the Patriots were able to tie things up with a 23-yard field goal by Nick Folk. New England received the second-half kickoff, and took the 23-16 lead on a 37-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mac Jones to tight end Hunter Henry.

Minnesota responded on the following kickoff, as Kene Nwangwu returned it for a 97-yard touchdown to tie things up again.

After a 25-yard field goal made by Folk put the Patriots ahead, the Vikings were able to bounce back with the aforementioned 10 points scored.

There was history made on Thanksgiving, as Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson recorded the most receiving years through three seasons, surpassing franchise legend Randy Moss, and free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

“Primetime” Kirk Cousins actually put up a solid showing, memes be damned. The starting quarterback completed 30-of-37 pass attempts for 299 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception.

Meanwhile, Jones had a good showing for the Patriots, throwing for 382 yards and two touchdowns while completing 28-of-39 attempts.

The Vikings now have a couple of extra days to rest before they prepare for their Week 13 game against the New York Jets. The Patriots will be playing on Thursday night for the second consecutive week when they play the rival Buffalo Bills.
