Pittsburgh sports talking head opens door for Kenny Pickett bust chatter

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett has been far from favorable this season, and there’s talk beginning of him being a bust.

Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett hasn’t been doing what Pittsburgh needs him to do this season as they sit dead last in the AFC North standings with a record of 3-7. He’s been given benefit of the doubt because it’s his rookie season, but how long can one go before being considered a bust?

Pickett made it to Week 13 before being considered a “possible” bust by Mark Madden of 105.9 The X. Sure, there’s been a lot of talk about how he hasn’t been doing well, but it was always too early in his career to say whether or not he was truly a bad pick.

He’s still not considered a bust, as it is too early to tell, but many are starting to believe that it’s a strong possibility at this point. After all, the Steelers haven’t ever finished last in the new division, implemented in 2002, and the season is beginning to wrap up.

Fans are frustrated with Pickett. Teammates are frustrated with Pickett. He’s not making a good case for himself to be considered a good pick.

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett continuously falls short

Pittsburgh has struggled to recover from losing veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. They signed Mitch Trubisky and drafted Pickett in hopes of having a solid replacement, but unfortunately, neither can get the job done.

Pickett took over from Trubisky as main starter when he wasn’t doing well, and he quickly proved that the Steelers are in for some trouble. Pickett’s played in seven games, but he’s only throwing an average of six yards per pass and has only thrown three touchdowns.

He consistently makes bad passes and misses big opportunities, and many are noticing. Roethlisberger himself even broke down one of Pickett’s plays to point out that he missed a massive opportunity to pass to Diontae Johnson, who isn’t producing nearly the numbers he did last season because of his lack of opportunity from Pickett.

While it may be too early in his career to tell whether or not he’s a complete bust, there are certainly many odds stacked against him that he’s going to have to work hard through to prove himself.
