NFL quarterback rankings, Week 13: Joe Burrow is rolling

After a rough start to the season, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is playing like an MVP candidate, leading his team into contention.

Our 2022 FanSided NFL quarterback rankings go live each Wednesday morning throughout the regular season, and we use a sliding scale incorporating current and past performances, with the former meaning more as the year goes on.

NFL quarterback rankings

32

Kyle Allen

Last Week: NA Houston Texans

2022 stats: 215 yards | 66.7 comp % | 1 TD | 12 INT | 5.5 YPA | 4.2 QBR

Allen was dreadful for the Texans, but at least watching horrific offense is nothing new for Houston fans.

31

Bryce Perkins

Last Week: NA Los Angeles Rams

2022 stats: 161 yards | 55.9 comp % | 1 TD | 2 INT | 4.7 YPA | 24.6 QBR

Perkins did what he could, but the Rams are a skeleton crew and the youngster was making his first NFL start.

30

Trevor Siemian

Last Week: NA Chicago Bears

2022 stats: 184 yards | 57.7 comp % | 1 TD | 1 INT | 7.1 YPA | 29.8 QBR

Siemian is the epitome of a backup quarterback who can win a low-scoring game, but is sunk in a shootout.

29

Sam Darnold

Last Week: NA Carolina Panthers

2022 stats: 164 yards | 57.9 comp % | 1 TD | 0 INT | 8.6 YPA | 72.0 QBR

Darnold looked like a Hall of Famer compared to Russell Wilson … which says far more about Wilson.

28

Russell Wilson

Last Week: 26 Denver Broncos

2022 stats: 2,369 yards | 58.9 comp % | 8 TD | 5 INT | 7.1 YPA | 32.2 QBR

Speaking of which, Wilson is arguably the worst quarterback in football this year for anybody who started the majority of his team’s games.

27

Mike White

Last Week: NA New York Jets

2022 stats: 315 yards | 78.6 comp % | 3 TD | 0 INT | 11.3 YPA | 91.2 QBR

White has Gang Green dreaming of the playoffs, and rightfully so. Played really well.

26

Mac Jones

Last Week: 27 New England Patriots

2022 stats: 1,768 yards | 69.2 comp % | 6 TD | 7 INT | 7.6 YPA | 35.2 QBR

Jones looked adequate against the Vikings, but can he repeat the showing against Buffalo in a must-win.

25

Matt Ryan

Last Week: 25 Indianapolis Colts

2022 stats: 2,642 yards | 68.8 comp % | 10 TD | 9 INT | 6.8 YPA | 44.1 QBR

Ryan can’t move anymore. The Colts need to give Ryan the perfect situation, and they aren’t capable of it.

USA TODAY Sports

24

Kenny Pickett

Last Week: 28 Pittsburgh Steelers

2022 stats: 1,600 yards | 66.0 comp % | 3 TD | 8 INT | 6.0 YPA | 46.1 QBR

Pickett avoided turnovers and made a few tight-window throws. Nothing special, but solid.

23

Marcus Mariota

Last Week: 24 Atlanta Falcons

2022 stats: 2,052 yards | 62.0 comp % | 14 TD | 8 INT | 7.4 YPA | 57.2 QBR

Mariota’s performance in Washington will be remembered for the season-ending interception at the goal line.

22

Daniel Jones

Last Week: 22 New York Giants

2022 stats: 2,165 yards | 64.6 comp % | 10 TD | 4 INT | 6.9 YPA | 58.1 QBR

Jones is taking better care of the ball, but he’s not producing enough big plays. It’s starting to haunt the Giants.

21

Taylor Heinicke

Last Week: 23 Washington Commanders

2022 stats: 1,169 yards | 60.8 comp % | 7 TD | 5 INT | 6.8 YPA | 46.9 QBR

Heinicke is a game-manager, but the Commanders are getting quality defensive showings and creating big turnovers. The combination has changed the season.

20

Andy Dalton

Last Week: 20 New Orleans Saints

2022 stats: 2,023 yards | 66.4 comp % | 14 TD | 7 INT | 7.5 YPA | 50.8 QBR

Dalton needs to be a backup for the rest of his career after this season. Just nothing but the easy plays.

19

Kyler Murray

Last Week: NA Arizona Cardinals

2022 stats: 2,359 yards | 66.3 comp % | 14 TD | 7 INT | 6.1 YPA | 50.2 QBR

Murray makes too many mistakes to be considered elite. He also needs to stop warring with head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

18

Jacoby Brissett

Last Week: 21 Cleveland Browns

2022 stats: 2,608 yards | 64.1 comp % | 12 TD | 6 INT | 7.1 YPA | 61.4 QBR

Brissett did a nice job while filling in for Deshaun Watson. Cleveland is 4-7 far more because of its lousy defense than anything Brissett didn’t do.

17

Ryan Tannehill

Last Week: 19 Tennessee Titans

2022 stats: 1,976 yards | 65.0 comp % | 10 TD | 4 INT | 8.1 YPA | 53.2 QBR

The Titans are starting to throw the ball a bit better, but can Tannehill push the ball downfield when need be?

USA TODAY Sports

16

Aaron Rodgers

Last Week: 16 Green Bay Packers

2022 stats: 2,682 yards | 64.8 comp % | 21 TD | 9 INT | 6.8 YPA | 41.3 QBR

The Packers should sit Rodgers for the rest of the year and learn what they have in Jordan Love, but that doesn’t sound like the plan.

15

Trevor Lawrence

Last Week: 17 Jacksonville Jaguars

2022 stats: 2,655 yards | 66.5 comp % | 16 TD | 6 INT | 6.9 YPA | 54.1 QBR

Lawrence has played very well over the past month, and he earned a wild comeback victory over the Ravens with a few big-time throws late.

14

Jimmy Garoppolo

Last Week: 15 San Francisco 49ers

2022 stats: 2,381 yards | 67.4 comp % | 16 TD | 4 INT | 7.8 YPA | 53.9 QBR

Garoppolo isn’t asked to be the 49ers’ engineer, but he’s playing the part of a manager. San Francisco needs him to continue avoiding the big mistakes.

13

Kirk Cousins

Last Week: 13 Minnesota Vikings

2022 stats: 2,760 yards | 65.0 comp % | 17 TD | 9 INT | 6.7 YPA | 49.5 QBR

Cousins needs to keep throwing the ball towards Justin Jefferson. That is the magic answer for Minnesota in any tough situation.

12

Jared Goff

Last Week: 12 Detroit Lions

2022 stats: 2,682 yards | 63.7 comp % | 17 TD | 7 INT | 7.4 YPA | 58.4 QBR

Goff is having a quality season for the Lions. Certainly nothing special, but he’s not the reason Detroit is enduring another losing campaign.

11

Derek Carr

Last Week: 11 Las Vegas Raiders

2022 stats: 2,730 yards | 63.0 comp % | 18 TD | 7 INT | 7.1 YPA | 61.0 QBR

Carr has a wild day in Seattle with three touchdowns and two interceptions, but ultimately helped the Raiders earn a second straight victory.

10

Tom Brady

Last Week: 10 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2022 stats: 3,051 yards | 66.2 comp % | 14 TD | 2 INT | 6.5 YPA | 53.9 QBR

Brady must want to lose his mind. He’s a seven-time Super Bowl champ, and the coaching staff isn’t letting him try to win the game in regulation for fear of Brady throwing an interception.

9

Geno Smith

Last Week: 8 Seattle Seahawks

2022 stats: 2,802 yards | 72.8 comp % | 19 TD | 5 INT | 7.9 YPA | 64.2 QBR

Seattle has cooled somewhat, but Smith is still playing well. Nobody has been a bigger surprise in the NFL this year.

Florida Times-Union

8

Lamar Jackson

Last Week: 6 Baltimore Ravens

2022 stats: 2,231 yards | 62.1 comp % | 17 TD | 7 INT | 6.9 YPA | 60.9 QBR

The Ravens need to find a more consistent passing game. Whether it’s Jackson or the receivers, Baltimore’s air attack is sputtering.

7

Dak Prescott

Last Week: 9 Dallas Cowboys

2022 stats: 1,393 yards | 68.1 comp % | 10 TD | 6 INT | 7.7 YPA | 61.9 QBR

Prescott has Dallas rolling offensively, averaging more than 30 points per game since his return. The Cowboys are true contenders.

6

Justin Herbert

Last Week: 7 Los Angeles Chargers

2022 stats: 3,004 yards | 67.4 comp % | 19 TD | 7 INT | 6.5 YPA | 61.1 QBR

Herbert continues to throw for a paltry YPA, but the rest of his numbers are fantastic. Los Angeles must open up the passing game.

5

Josh Allen

Last Week: 4 Buffalo Bills

2022 stats: 3,183 yards | 63.9 comp % | 23 TD | 11 INT | 7.8 YPA | 73.6 QBR

Allen clearly isn’t right, but the Bills are 8-3 and fighting for the AFC East. They desperately need him to find his game with the defense injury-riddled.

4

Joe Burrow

Last Week: 5 Cincinnati Bengals

2022 stats: 3,160 yards | 68.2 comp % | 23 TD | 8 INT | 7.7 YPA | 57.7 QBR

Burrow threw four interceptions in Week 1. Since then, he’s arguably been the most consistent quarterback in the NFL save for Patrick Mahomes. The Bengals are 7-4, and Burrow meets Mahomes — who he’s 2-0 against — this Sunday.

3

Jalen Hurts

Last Week: 3 Philadelphia Eagles

2022 stats: 2,560 yards | 67.3 comp % | 17 TD | 3 INT | 8.1 YPA | 68.2 QBR

Hurts has been a dominant dual-threat this season, leading Philadelphia to a 10-1 season. The Eagles are impossible to defend when they’re running wild.

2

Tua Tagovailoa

Last Week: 2 Miami Dolphins

2022 stats: 2,564 yards | 69.7 comp % | 19 TD | 3 INT | 9.0 YPA | 82.8 QBR

Tagovailoa has been brilliant this season. Now, a three-game road trop with the 49ers, Chargers and Bills on deck.

1

Patrick Mahomes

Last Week: 1 Kansas City Chiefs

2022 stats: 3,585 yards | 66.1 comp % | 29 TD | 8 INT | 8.1 YPA | 77.3 QBR

Mahomes threw a hideous red-zone interception on Sunday, but otherwise he was terrific with another 300-yard effort. The Chiefs, and their MVP-likely quarterback, keep rolling.
