3 teams that should gamble on Anthony Richardson’s potential in the 2023 NFL Draft
With Anthony Richardson turning pro, a handful of NFL teams should be in on the former Florida Gators star quarterback.
The talent and upside is there, but Anthony Richardson will be a work-in-progress in the NFL.
However, that does not mean some of the 32 franchises in the league will not be intrigued by the former Florida star’s pure and undeniable talent. If all goes according to plan, he can be the next Cam Newton. Should he be too raw to even get to the potential zenith, then he may fizzle out of the league as quickly as he was at Florida. Either way, Richardson is a prospect worth drafting.
Here are three teams that could take a huge gamble on Richardson in the first round this spring.

The Green Bay Packers drafted a project quarterback in the first round before
Would it be all that shocking to you if the Green Bay Packers decided to take a mulligan on the Jordan Love wasted pick and select a player who is largely seen as a better prospect than him in Richardson? Although Richardson could flame out pretty quickly in the NFL, he can do things on the gridiron that Love was never able to do during his sensational sophomore year at Utah State.
With Aaron Rodgers pretty much a year-to-year player at this point of his career, it would be foolish for the Packers to not have a backup plan, just in case he decides to retire on a whim. By taking Richardson, the Packers may be inclined to trade Love to a different franchise. It would help the Packers recoup draft picks by sending Love to a team that could exercise his fifth-year option.
Drafting Richardson signifies a Packers rebuild but would extend Matt LaFleur’s runway just a bit.
