3 reasons the Cowboys will be fine without Odell Beckham Jr.
The Dallas Cowboys opted not to sign Odell Beckham Jr., and believe it or not, there are several reasons why they’ll be just fine.
Week 14 in the NFL has passed, and the Dallas Cowboys have their veteran wide receiver addition fans have been waiting for.
No, it’s not Odell Beckham Jr.
Instead, the Cowboys opted to ink former Indianapolis Colts veteran T.Y. Hilton in order to fill out their receiving corps heading toward the postseason.
While Hilton wasn’t the flashy option some fans longed for, he’s a more reliable signing at this point. And, believe it or not, the Cowboys are going to be perfectly fine without Beckham, for a few good reasons.
Here are three main reasons why.
Why Cowboys will be fine without Odell Beckham Jr: Plenty of weapons in the passing game
Prior to the season, the idea of signing Beckham may have made some sense, especially considering Michael Gallup’s health being in question. But, as the season has gone on, Gallup has looked more and more like himself and is locked in as Dak Prescott’s second option in the passing game behind CeeDee Lamb.
But, don’t forget about the other guys. Dallas has some talent beyond those two, and Noah Brown proved once again, on Sunday, why fans have been high on him for quite some time.
Between Lamb, Gallup, Brown, and the newly-signed Hilton, the Cowboys have four solid wideouts.
However, we also shouldn’t forget about the tight end position. Dak loves throwing to his tight ends, and Dalton Schultz is one of the most consistent, sure-handed in the game today.
Schultz has amassed 40 targets over his last six games, and has become a staple once again in this offense. As it stands, the Cowboys passing attack actually has the perfect amount of targets. Adding Beckham would have had the potential to throw that off.
