Cardinals Twitter has a meltdown after Zaven Collins interception taken away
Arizona Cardinals fans were not pleased about linebacker Zaven Collins’ pick-six against the New England Patriots getting taken away.
The Arizona Cardinals season is not going the way they had envisioned. After making the playoffs last year, they entered Monday Night Football in Week 14 with a 4-8 record. Things only got worse when their game against the New England Patriots started, as quarterback Kyler Murray went down with a non-contact knee injury and had to be carted off of the football field.
As if the Cardinals fanbase didn’t have enough to be upset about, they found a call they deemed “controversial.”
In the third quarter, New England cornerback Marcus Jones picked off a pass from Arizona backup quarterback Colt McCoy. One play later, linebacker Zaven Collins intercepted a pass off Mac Jones that was intended for wide receiver Nelson Agholor, and returned it for a touchdown.
There’s one problem, it was actually an incomplete pass. The officials looked at the replay quickly, and overruled the interception.
Cardinals Twitter can’t believe Zaven Collins pick-six was taken away
Some Cardinals Twitter users, well, didn’t agree with the call.
Given that it was ruled an incomplete pass, Arizona failed to tie the game at 20-20.
To make matters worse for Arizona, they watched New England march downfield and extend their lead to 27-13 after a three-yard touchdown run by Pierre Strong. That touchdown run was set up by a 39-yard reception by Hunter Henry one play prior.
That final score did stand, and now the Cardinals are 1-6 at home on the season and extend their overall losing streak to three games. To make matters worse, they may be without Murray, who is set to undergo an MRI on Tuesday.
Overall, not a great night to be a Cardinals fan.
