The New England Patriots suffered an epic collapse against the Las Vegas Raiders, which likely killed their playoff hopes. There are ways to fix it for next year.

That was a disaster, that being the New England Patriots going rouge against the Las Vegas Raiders with a lateral that wound up costing them the game. If you need a reminder, just look below.

It’s easy to blame the players, and no question they deserve tremendous blame for suffering a case of being asleep at the wheel or going rogue. That said, it should never have gotten to that point. Look no further than the missed out-of-bounds call on the play to Darren Waller, and more importantly, the lack of execution on the offense.

At some point, the Patriots need to realize that what they are doing just isn’t working. Tom Brady will not get younger, walk in the door, and save the day. Additionally, it may be time for Bill Belichick to look in the mirror and realize that some of the issues are on him.

But let’s be nice here; it’s the holiday spirit, and here are some suggestions to help make sure the folks in Foxborough are back in the postseason next season, as this year doesn’t look like it will happen.

Patriots path back to the playoffs in 2023, Step 1: Fix the offensive line

Time and time again in the NFL, the enamor with weapons, quarterbacks, and flashy plays take away from the true essence of the game. Control the line of scrimmage. You can throw the football, but when you are on your back, there’s nothing to do but stare up and groan.

The Patriots’ offense is not working, and the biggest reason for that will be addressed later on, but the personnel up front is struggling. Additionally, there are several instances where they are not giving their quarterback enough time to operate.

There is talent, and if utilized correctly, the Patriots’ front line can be a force, but over the last few weeks, they have been getting bullied, none more notable than in their loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday Night Football. It always starts up front.
