Patriots legend Willie McGinest arrested for violent nightclub assault

Former New England Patriots Super Bowl champion Willie McGinest was arrested for a violent nightclub assault, in which he allegedly beat a man with a bottle.

Willie McGinest is a two-time Pro Bowler and three-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots. In mid-December, McGinest allegedly got into a fight at a West Hollywood nightclub. The former NFL player was arrested on Monday for assault, as he allegedly smashed a bottle over a man’s head and bunched him in the face.

TMZ obtained video of the incident, though I must warn all readers that it contains violence.

McGinest and an unknown man got into an argument at Delilah prior to matters getting violent. McGinest appears to instigate a physical threat, punching the man with his left hand. Of course, video doesn’t always tell the full story.

Former Patriots Super Bowl champion Willie McGinest arrested

After Willie McGinest threw a punch, at least three more men sprung into action. McGinest is a former NFL linebacker, so it’s best not to engage in any sort of physical violence against him. Odds are it will not end well.

The alleged assault victim appeared bloody and bruised in the video, in part because of the bottle that was evidently smashed over his head.

McGinest was arrested early Monday morning, after he originally went to the police station to give a statement about the incident. After his interview, police arrested him. His bail was set for $30,000, per TMZ.

While the former Pats linebacker retired in 2005 as a member of the Cleveland Browns, he’s remained active in the NFL community since then. He was enshrined in the team’s Hall of Fame just a few years ago, and is one of the best Patriots of all-time. McGinest also recently worked for NFL Network as a game analyst.
