Updated NFC playoff picture after Packers beat Rams on MNF
The NFC playoff picture remains in view for the Packers after their win over the Rams, who were officially eliminated from the postseason.
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers went into Monday Night Football against the Rams knowing a win was necessary to keep their unlikely playoff hopes alive.
They got the job done, winning 24-12 and eliminating Los Angeles in the process.
The Packers’ playoff probability, according to the New York Times, improved from six percent to nine percent with the win. They just need to keep on winning to keep improving that figure.

If Green Bay wins out, besting the Dolphins, Vikings and Lions along the way, they will have a 65 percent chance of making the postseason in the NY Times estimation.
They’ll need help along the way as well. Packers fans will be rooting hard for opponents of the Giants, Commanders, Seahawks and Lions in the coming weeks. If the Panthers beat Detroit, the Chiefs beat Seattle, the Vikings beat New York and the 49ers beat the Washington next week, GB’s playoff probability would jump to 86 percent, still assuming they beat the Dolphins and won out themselves.
As for the Rams, they became the first defending Super Bowl champion to miss the playoffs the following season since the Broncos in 2016. According to ESPN Stats & Info, they tied the 1999 Broncos for the most losses by a defending Super Bowl winner with 10. They’ll try to avoid breaking that tie with games coming up against, fittingly, Denver and then the Chargers and Seahawks.
