Vikings news: Justin Jefferson gifted the perfect bulletin-board material from Packers

It’s great that Packers defensive back Jaire Alexander believes in himself, but giving Vikings WR Justin Jefferson bulletin-board material is a bold strategy.

If we know anything about Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson, it’s that he will use that bulletin-board material against the culprit.

The Packers face off against Minnesota this weekend with plenty on the line. For the Vikings, they’re still alive for the No. 1 seed in the NFC. They just need some help from the Saints and Giants, which the Philadelphia Eagles (13-2) play the next two weeks.

Green Bay is playing for their playoff lives. Here’s what needs to happen for Green Bay to make the playoffs:

  1. Green Bay Packers need to win out
  2. Washington Commanders must lose one of final two games OR New York Giants must lose out

It’s that simple.

Packers vs Vikings: Jaire Alexander calls out Justin Jefferson

Jaire Alexander did say that Justin Jefferson is one of the best wide receivers in the league, but also suggested that his Week 1 performance against the Packers — in which he had nine receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns — was a fluke because it happened in the first game of the year.

Jefferson’s arguably been the best wide receiver in football this year. Odds are, he will hear these comments and take them personally. The Vikings star has a chance to ball out AND knock a division rival out of the postseason? That sounds like sweet justice from where I’m sitting.

Jefferson stepped up to defend quarterback Kirk Cousins on social media earlier on Thursday, so you know he’s listening to the pundits.

He’s right about Cousins, who has taken some steps forward this season.

Per Pro Football Reference, Cousins has six fourth-quarter comebacks/game-winning drives this season. That’s the most of his career in one season.

Safe to say both Cousins and Jefferson have something to play for on an individual level this Sunday.
