As the Kansas City Chiefs prepare for the 2022 NFL postseason, they will have to try and shield a few of their main weaknesses.

As the 2022 NFL season winds down, the playoff picture is starting to come more and more into focus.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 12-3 and fully alive for the number one seed in the postseason, but this year has been quite the ride. Getting to this record has not been easy.

The year started in an odd manner for the Chiefs, who began with a blowout of the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1. Just two weeks later, though, after scoring 44 points against Arizona, the Chiefs lost to the Indianapolis Colts 20-17.

As stated, the season started in an odd fashion, and things somewhat continued in that direction. Kansas City has been part of some close games with teams they should be beating handily, but have still managed to come away victorious. As the postseason nears, though, the Chiefs have to start looking at why some of these close games take place.

Before we tackle what weaknesses this Chiefs team holds, let’s establish the simple fact that no matter what, Kansas City is a team that will always terrify the opposition because of one man: Patrick Mahomes.

Playing maybe the best football of his career, albeit quietly in a way, Mahomes has been brilliant in 2022. A legitimate MVP candidate once again, Mahomes is getting it done in many unorthodox ways, as he typically does — and this year without Tyreek Hill, making it more impressive.

Any team boasting Mahomes will be able to mask weaknesses. That’s a given. No matter how bad an area looks in Kansas City, the fact still remains that Mahomes is Mahomes and the Chiefs have a shot no matter what. But, when it comes to those specific weaknesses, let’s dive in a bit further and talk about how they can be masked in the playoffs.
