Kenny Pickett keeps Steelers alive with win over Ravens: Best memes and tweets
The Pittsburgh Steelers are still alive in the playoff hunt, thanks in part to a heroic last drive by rookie Kenny Pickett to lead the team to a 16-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
Remember when the Pittsburgh Steelers were 2-6 on the year, and fans weren’t exactly sold on rookie Kenny Pickett as their quarterback of the future? A lot can change in a matter of eight weeks in the NFL. Now, the Steelers are entering the final week of the season with a chance to make the playoffs.
In Week 17, the Steelers defeated the rival Baltimore Ravens 16-13 after a heroic final drive by Pickett, who escaped a sack on third-and-eight and completed a pass to running back Najee Harris in the end zone for the game-winning 10-yard touchdown.
This is now the second game-winning drive orchestrated by Pickett in two weeks, as he did the same in Week 16 against the Las Vegas Raiders.
Twitter users were giving their props to the rookie, who is growing into a clutch quarterback for the Steelers. Not only that, but praising the team as a whole for pulling off yet another win to keep their playoff hopes alive.
Twitter praises Steelers’ Kenny Pickett for game-winning drive vs. Ravens.
NBC commentator Cris Collinsworth was so impressed by Pickett’s touchdown pass by Harris, he said, “If Patrick Mahomes had made this play, we’d be putting it right in the Hall of Fame.”
Pickett finished that drive completing 5-of-6 pass attempts for 64 yards and the aforementioned touchdown pass to Harris. He finished the game completing 15-of-27 passes for 168 yards and one touchdown.
Speaking of Harris, the second-year running back had a great performance, running for 111 yards on 22 carries. He caught two passes for 12 yards on three targets.
As for what the Steelers need to happen in Week 18, they will need to defeat the Cleveland Browns. Not just that, but they also need the Buffalo Bills to defeat the New England Patriots and the New York Jets to beat the Miami Dolphins. If all three of these results become a reality next week, Pittsburgh will be in the playoffs for the third consecutive year.
The Steelers have given their fanbase plenty of hope not just for the final week of the season, but also for the foreseeable future, thanks in part to another clutch game by Pickett.
