Lions vs. Packers Prediction and Odds for Week 18 (Goff vs. Rodgers, don’t overthink it)

The Green Bay Packers have rallied from 4-8 with four-straight wins, and now have a win-and-in game against the Detroit Lions in Week 18.

The Lions need a little bit of help from Baker Mayfield and the L.A. Rams to keep their playoff hopes alive, but if the Rams take down Seattle, then the winner of this game is the No. 7 seed in the NFC.

A lot is riding on this game and it could be flexed into Sunday Night Football. Will Aaron Rodgers run the table once again and get Green Bay into the playoffs? Vegas seems to think so.

Let’s look at the odds for this NFC North game at Lambeau Field.

Lions vs. Packers Prediction and Pick

Both teams had dominant wins in Week 17, with Detroit taking a 41-10 victory over the Chicago Bears and Green Bay cruised past the Minnesota Vikings 41-17. They both have momentum coming in at 8-8 after poor starts to the season, but only one team has Aaron Rodgers. He didn’t have another MVP season this year, but as his thumb continues to heal and the games continue to become more and more important, he just keeps winning.

The last time we saw Jared Goff in a must-win, cold weather game in Lambeau Field it didn’t go well. It was the 2021 Divisional round, Goff’s last game with the Rams, going 21/27 for only 174 yards and a touchdown in a 32-18 Packers win. He was also sacked four times.

In the same game, Rodgers threw for nearly 300 yards and two touchdowns. The Lions allow the most total yards per game of any defense in the league, just barely worse than Minnesota, who the Packers just shredded.

The Lions were a very fun team and a good story. I’d love to see Dan Campbell’s bunch of kneecap biters in the playoffs, but it’s nearly impossible to make it to the postseason with a defense this bad unless you have a truly elite quarterback, which Goff is not.
