Damar Hamlin update: Bills release statement on Tuesday

The Buffalo Bills released a minor update to Damar Hamlin’s condition on Tuesday afternoon.

Damar Hamlin was taken to the hospital on Monday night after a collision with Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.

Hamlin has remained in critical condition since he arrived at the University of Cincinnati medical hospital. The Bills safety was given nearly 10 minutes of CPR on the field, and was surrounded by teammates to block the view of ESPN’s Monday Night Football cameras.

The former University of Pittsburgh standout has emerged as one of the key contributors of the Bills secondary. As a sixth-round draft pick, he has exceeded expectations on the field.

As for the game itself, the league also announced on Tuesday afternoon that Bills vs Bengals would likely not be resumed this week, as the major concern is Hamlin’s health.

Damar Hamlin update: Bills release a statement on his health

The Bills released a statement on Hamlin’s health on Tuesday afternoon. While the update didn’t include much new information, any news is good news in this regard, especially as the NFL world fears the worst:

“Damar Hamlin spent last night in the intensive care unit and remains there today in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support we have received thus far.”

The NFL has made mental health support resources available not just to all players who were on the field Monday night, but to all 32 of its teams. The league is a tight fraternity, and even those who may not know Hamlin are impacted, one way or another.

Monday’s incident is always the worst-case scenario and fear for all players on the field, and anyone who is close to them.

We can only hope Hamlin recovers from this traumatic incident. He is in our thoughts.
