Jerry Jones confirms Cowboys aren’t letting off the gas in Week 18

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ensures that the team will not be resting in Week 18, as they have some big goals to accomplish.

The Dallas Cowboys clinched their playoff berth back in Week 15, despite losing 40-34 in overtime to the Jacksonville Jaguars. That became a possibility after the New York Giants beat the Washington Commanders and the Seattle Seahawks’ loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The final week is usually a chance for playoff teams to rest up. But, the Cowboys have a lot on the line in the final week of the season.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told the media that Cowboys players won’t be resting, as there’s “too much to play for.” The Cowboys have the chance to clinch the NFC East title and the No. 1 seed in the conference this weekend.

Jerry Jones says Cowboys won’t rest players in important Week 18

Given what’s on the line in Week 18, it’s understandable why Jones would say the team is not going to rest. While winning the division is nice and all, the first-round bye and home field advantage will be pivotal in the playoffs.

Dallas got into this position after they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16 and the Tennessee Titans in Week 17. Speaking of the Eagles, they are now 0-2 since quarterback and NFL MVP candidate Jalen Hurts was sidelined due to a sprained throwing shoulder. Philadelphia lost to Dallas and the New Orleans Saints in the previous two weeks.

As for Dallas’ clinching scenarios, they are as follows. The Cowboys can win the NFC East with a win this weekend against the Washington Commanders and an Eagles loss to the Giants. As for the No. 1 seed, first-round bye, and home field advantage, they can do so with a win, an Eagles loss, and a 49ers loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

For Cowboys fans wondering if the team will rest their starters, Jones let them all know that that won’t be the case. They are going to try to win the division and get home field throughout the playoffs.
