Is Jadeveon Clowney playing this week? Browns frustration, explained

Cleveland Browns defensive end Jadeveon Clowney will not play against the Steelers this week, in part because he plans to leave the team after this season.

In a report from Cleveland.com, Jadeveon Clowney went on the record about his frustration with the Browns, in part because he felt they put Myles Garrett’s individual success over that of the team.

It’s normal for Clowney to be frustrated, especially after a losing season. But to call out his teammate and the organization on the way out is a low blow.

“You’re all trying to get [Garrett] into the Hall of Fame instead of winning games,” Clowney said. “I don’t even think [Garrett] notices. I ain’t trying to say it’s him. I try to get along with everybody I play with. Me and him don’t have a problem. It ain’t his fault, and it’s B.S., and I don’t have time for it.”

He also added that it’s time to “get his exit slip.”

Browns: Myles Garrett responds to Jadeveon Clowney

Clowney was sure to mention that he didn’t have a problem with Myles Garrett, but it’s tough not to read his statement as some bizarre for of jealousy or resentment. Garrett, for one, wishes they could have discussed his issues in-house.

“I knew he was frustrated. We’ve all been frustrated; we’re not winning,” Garrett said. “I wish we could’ve talked about this man-to-man. … I wish he would have handled it a little bit differently.”

Garrett also added that he was “confused” about Clowney’s comment.

Will Jadeveon Clowney play for the Browns this week?

Clowney was sent home from Cleveland’s facility the morning after his comments, and he will not travel to Pittsburgh and play for the Browns this week against the Steelers. Clowney’s time with the Browns, as he predicted to Cleveland.com, is likely over.
