Patrick Mahomes reps Damar Hamlin prior to matchup vs Raiders

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes rocked a Damar Hamlin shirt prior to his matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders on Saturday.

The entire NFL community is thinking of Damar Hamlin after Monday night’s frightening incident.

Hamlin was given nearly 10 minutes of CPR on the field, and was taken to a nearby Cincinnati hospital, where he remains but is improving. Thankfully, Hamlin avoided the worst-case scenario, and his first concern was whether the Bills defeated the Bengals in Week 17.

The NFL opted to cancel that game, as Hamlin’s health remains the top priority. But they will resume the regular season on Saturday night, with the Chiefs taking on the Raiders in the early game. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes showed that Damar Hamlin is clearly still on every player’s mind.

Latest update on Damar Hamlin’s health

The Buffalo Bills released another update on Hamlin’s health Saturday, and it sounded increasingly positive:

“Per the physicians at UC Medical Center, Damar is making continued progress in his recovery yet remains in critical condition. He continues to breathe on his own and his neurological function is excellent.”

Hamlin has made plenty of progress since he was taken to University of Cincinnati hospital on Monday night. At that point, he was in critical condition and on a ventilator.

Patrick Mahomes, NFL players support Damar Hamlin

The support for Hamlin from the NFL community has been well-documented, with many supporting Hamlin’s charity, which aims to start a toy drive in the McKee’s Rocks community near Pittsburgh. Hamlin’s GoFundMe has reached over $8 million, which an astonishing amount given the very limited goals he began with.

While Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs will face the Raiders with seeding on the line Saturday night, their hearts and minds are still with Hamlin in what’s sure to be an emotional contest for both teams.
