Jalen Hurts announces Eagles return with epic t-shirt

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts wore a t-shirt with an epic message ahead of his Week 18 return.

The Philadelphia Eagles looked as though they were cruising towards the No. 1 seed, but they hit a road block. Back in Week 15, quarterback and NFL MVP candidate Jalen Hurts suffered a sprained throwing shoulder, and the team decided to only play him when he was absolutely healthy. He missed their next two games, both of which were losses. Now, they enter Week 18 needing a win to clinch the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

After Hurts returned to practice this week in a limited fashion, the Eagles made an official announcement on Sunday afternoon — he will be active for the team’s game against the New York Giants. Hurts decided to send a message in the form of a t-shirt he wore while walking into Lincoln Financial Field.

The t-shirt featured the image of the front page of a newspaper with Michael Jordan’s “I’m back” message.

This is what Eagles fans have been waiting for, and just in time for the playoffs.

When Hurts was sidelined with his shoulder injury, backup Gardner Minshew stepped up in his absence. While he put up relatively solid passing numbers against the Dallas Cowboys, he had three turnovers in the game, which resulted in 17 points scored. The Cowboys won that game 40-34. Then in Week 17, Minshew couldn’t do much against the New Orleans Saints, as he was sacked six times in the 20-10 loss.

Hurts has had an unreal third season, as he threw for 3,472 yards, 22 touchdowns, and five interceptions while completing 67.3 percent of his passes. Hurts also ran for 747 yards and 13 touchdowns on 156 carries.

In his first game back from injury and the team’s regular-season finale, Hurts can help the Eagles clinch the No. 1 seed, a first-round bye, and home field advantage in the playoffs with a win over the Giants. He has a decent shot of doing so on paper, as the Giants will be resting most of their starters for the game, since they are locked in as the No. 6 seed in the NFC.
