Former NFL exec’s idea for Bears, Justin Fields proves why ‘former’ is in his title

ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum provided a take on the Chicago Bears and Justin Fields that proves why he is no longer a general manager in the NFL.

Leave it to ESPN, FOX, and various other outlets to find ways to go at the Chicago Bears and Justin Fields after an exciting moment in the Windy City.

Due to the Houston Texans winning against Indianapolis, it is Chicago that gets the No. 1 overall pick and a chance to find an impact player to resurrect the franchise alongside Fields. But Mike Tannenbaum has a different idea.

The former New York Jets general manager and ESPN analyst said the Bears should trade Fields in favor of Bryce Young, the hot shot from Alabama. Let me repeat that. Chicago should trade Justin Fields and spend the No. 1 overall pick on Bryce Young.

You have got to be kidding me. This is why Tannenbaum doesn’t run a team anymore.

Mike Tannenbaum’s take on Bears trading Justin Fields is blasphemous

If nothing else, this reeks of hot takes and clickbait. Why would the Bears give up on Justin Fields at this point? What is so convincing about the franchise trading him right now? What’s with all the negativity spewing? Is this fun? Is it fun to watch others suffer while your personal favorites thrive?

Maybe so. But at the end of the day, there is a legitimate argument that the Bears will make a trade, but that will be dealing the top pick. That pick will be turned into multiple selections over several years — and those picks could potentially turn into something bigger.

Right now, the Bears are down, and it’s easy to kick someone when they are down. But if the Bears’ plan goes according to what they believe it will, there is a good chance Fields gets the last laugh. The offseason cannot come fast enough.
