Chiefs 2023 schedule: Who are Kansas City’s opponents next season?
The Kansas City Chiefs are set to participate in the 2022 playoffs. For those looking ahead to next season, here’s who they will be facing in 2023.
The 2022 NFL regular-season has reached its conclusion, and it’s time for the playoffs. The Kansas City Chiefs clinched the No. 1 seed in the AFC after finishing the year with a 14-3 record, and earned a first-round bye.
With the Chiefs fans waiting to see who the team’s opponents will be in the Divisional Round, there is some free time for the fans to scout their opponents for next season. The NFL officially unveiled all 32 teams’ opponents for the 2023 season. It’s important to note that the the exact schedule won’t be revealed until later this year.
For those who need a reminder as to how the league creates schedules for all 32 teams, here’s how they do so, courtesy of NFL Operations:
- Six games against divisional opponents: three teams, two games each (one at home, one on road)
- Four games against one division in conference: two home games and two road games
- Four games against a division from the opposite conference: two home games and two road games
- Two games against teams from the two remaining divisions in same conference (based off rankings): one home game and one road game
- One 17th game against a non-conference team that the team is not scheduled to play against (based off division ranking)

Here’s who the Chiefs will play at home in 2023:
- Denver Broncos
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Buffalo Bills
- Chicago Bears
- Cincinnati Bengals
- Detroit Lions
- Miami Dolphins
- Philadelphia Eagles
Here’s who the Chiefs will play on the road in 2023:
- Denver Broncos
- Las Vegas Raiders
- Los Angeles Chargers
- Green Bay Packers
- Jacksonville Jaguars
- Minnesota Vikings
- New England Patriots
- New York Jets
In no surprise, six games total will be designated to the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers for next season.
As for which NFC division they will be facing in 2023, that will be the North. They will face off against a Minnesota Vikings team that won the division, a Detroit Lions team on the rise, a Green Bay Packers team that may or may not have a change at the quarterback position, and a Chicago Bears team that has the No. 1 overall pick in the draft and over $111 million in cap space at their disposal this offseason.
The Chiefs will have some tough challenges in conference next season, as they play the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. Not to mention, they face the Philadelphia Eagles from the NFC.
