John Harbaugh’s comments on Lamar Jackson’s Tweet illustrates a potential divide between QB and Ravens
John Harbaugh continues to have no update on Lamar Jackson, despite the QB himself updating the world on his status. What’s up with that?
NFL head coaches typically are first in line to get updates on key injured players. Especially when it has to do with a once-MVP quarterback like Lamar Jackson.
Yet, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has had no public updates to give, even after Jackson himself took to Twitter to update fans on his status and give them pretty clear details on where he’s at.
After Jackson told everyone he has a grade 2 PCL sprain, Harbaugh said he knew nothing about it. He then continued to tell reporters he still can’t comment on the injury or provide specifics.
Other reporters indicated Harbaugh cited privacy laws as the reason why he can’t share. Which, still, is strange considering Jackson has made it public knowledge himself.
John Harbaugh not knowing anything about Lamar Jackson’s injury is a curiously bad look for Ravens
Keep in mind, this injury situation, which has kept Jackson out of NFL games since December 4th, is back-dropped by Jackson’s contract situation. He wants a new, massive deal that’s in-line with some of the guaranteed money other QBs, like Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson have received.
Considering neither of those contracts have worked out super well, it’s probably something the Ravens are even less interested in now.
There has been plenty of speculation about whether or not Jackson is actually holding himself out of games as a bargaining chip. When the stakes are highest for the team, holding out until he gets better news from the team on the negotiation front would be a bold move.
Jackson telling the world details on his injury clears things up on that front, but it still doesn’t make sense why the Ravens wouldn’t know about this. Has he gone rogue with his injury rehab, a sign of potential distrust between he and the Ravens?
To be clear: We don’t know. But there aren’t many good explanations one can think of that makes this make sense.
