Who do the Chiefs play in the NFL Playoffs? [UPDATED]

The Kansas City Chiefs earned a first-round bye in the NFL Playoffs and won’t play until the Divisional Round. But who will their opponent be?

While the rest of the AFC playoff teams are going to battle on Super Wild Card Weekend to kick off the 2023 NFL Playoffs, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are at home waiting until the Divisional Round.

Though the Damar Hamlin injury and the consequent cancellation of the Bills-Bengals game resulted in a bit of confusion in the race for the top seed in the conference, it was Kansas City that emerged as the top seed in the conference. That earned them a first-round bye along with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC.

Subsequently, the Chiefs are waiting until at least Jan. 21 to take the field in these NFL Playoffs for the first time. But eager fans are already wondering who Kansas City will be playing to begin their postseason run.

Who do the Chiefs play in the playoffs?

Coming into Sunday’s action, we had no idea who KC would be matched up with in the Divisional Round. And with the Bills topping the Dolphins to start the day, that added less clarity. All that we knew going into the nightcap on Sunday was that the Chiefs would not be playing the Bills or the Bengals if Cincinnati came out on top due to the fact that the Jaguars were the lower seed.

However, that still left the Jaguars and Ravens as potential opponents for Andy Reid’s team.

But after Sunday night with Joe Burrow, Sam Hubbard and the Bengals moving through and staving off an upset, we have the answer. It’ll be Trevor Lawrence and Jacksonville traveling to Arrowhead Stadium to face the Chiefs next week for the Divisional Round in what could be a fantastic matchup.
