Travis Kelce warns Bengals about calling Arrowhead ‘Burrowhead’

The Cincinnati Bengals have called Arrowhead Stadium “Burrowhead,” but Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce gave them a warning.

The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals are set to face off in the AFC Championship Game for the second year in a row. When it comes to the Joe Burrow-led Bengals, they have had the Chiefs’ number since entering the league in 2020. Specifically, Burrow is 3-0 against the Chiefs in his career, including the 27-24 overtime win in the AFC Championship Game last year to clinch a spot in Super Bowl 56.

With the game taking place in Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, fans and cornerback Mike Hilton decided to dub the venue “Burrowhead,” due to his success against the Chiefs. Well, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce issued a warning to the Bengals, saying not to give them reason for Arrowhead Stadium to get louder than usual.

Kelce’s comments come during the latest episode of his “New Heights Show” with his brother and Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.

“We are the loudest stadium in the world, on record. 40 to 142 decibels,” said Kelce. “…I don’t know, maybe we’re going to have to break it this week because a lot of Cincinnati Bengals fans are calling it “Burrowhead” instead of Arrowhead…They’re throwing a lot of bulletin board material out there, man.”

The last thing you would want to do is give your opponent bulletin board material to motivate them to a victory. Especially the Chiefs. But, the Bengals are on fire.

Last week, the Bengals held the Buffalo Bills to just 10 points in their 27-10 victory. Not to mention that Burrow was a perfect nine-for-nine on his passes to lead Cincinnati to a 14-0 lead in their first two offensive drives of the game.

In regards to “Burrowhead,” the third-year quarterback only played in Arrowhead once, last year’s AFC Championship Game. The other two games have been at Paycor Stadium, the Bengals’ home stadium.

The Chiefs are looking to make their third Super Bowl in four years. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is trending to play, despite suffering a high ankle sprain in the team’s 27-20 Divisional Round victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, it will be interesting to see how loud Arrowhead will get, especially after hearing the “Burrowhead” taunts from Cincinnati.
