Broncos 2024 Super Bowl odds skyrocket following Sean Payton hire

Sean Payton has been hired as the new head coach of the Denver Broncos and it appears Vegas loves the move for Denver.

Minutes after news broke that the former Saints coach and Super Bowl winner was being named as the Broncos new head coach, the 2024 Super Bowl odds for Denver were already on the move.

After opening with +4000 odds to win the Super Bowl in 2024 at DraftKings, the Broncos odds have gone all the way to +2800 now.

Latest odds to win the Super Bowl in 2024

That’s a massive swing in the Super Bowl futures market, the kind usually reserved for a player like Aaron Rodgers getting traded. But in this case, Vegas believes Payton could make that big of a difference; and/or they’re hedging against any big bets being placed on Denver immediately.

Payton’s first act of business, and the key to the Broncos competing for a Super Bowl next season, is fixing quarterback Russell Wilson. The former Pro Bowler was a shell of his former self last season, leading the least-productive offense in the league in his first year in Denver.

Luckily, the Broncos’ defense was one of the best in the league and return the vast majority of the stars who made them so dangerous. If Payton, an offensive-minded head coach, can keep that unit playing at a similar level and improve the offense, Denver fans have every right to think big.

In his 15 years coaching the Saints, Payton won a Super Bowl title in 2009 and led the team to the playoffs nine times. He has a 9-8 record in the playoffs but was only able to lead the Saints to more than one win in the postseason once, the year they won it all.

On a positive, he worked with a similarly-diminutive quarterback to Wilson in New Orleans (Drew Brees) and absolutely got the most out of him. His offensive system is suited to Wilson’s strengths. If anyone can fix Wilson, it’s him.

While I’m not rushing to bet on the Broncos to win it all, Payton certainly gives them the best option to fix their current issues and make another run to the Super Bowl. They have the talent on the team to compete with anyone. Now it’s on Payton to use that to pad bettor’s pockets.
