The Los Angeles Chargers could end up making star wide receiver Keenan Allen a cap casualty.

There is no way around it, the Los Angeles Chargers must get under the cap one way or another.

The Bolts are nearly $20 million in the hole. While 13 other NFL teams need to get under the cap as well, only six franchises are in a worse spot than the Chargers. However, if they were to release wide receiver Keenan Allen and tight end Gerald Everett, Los Angeles would free up well over $23 million. Releasing the veteran Pro Bowl wide receiver would save the Chargers around $15 million.

Should the Bolts cut ties with Allen, you better believe other teams with cash will try to sign him.

Houston Texans have ample cap space, a new coach maybe a new quarterback?

It sounds stupid, but hear me out. Somebody is going worst-to-first this season, and it would not be all that shocking if that team is the Houston Texans. While they have been nothing short of a blazing tire fire since blowing a massive lead to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional round, new head coach DeMeco Ryans breathes hope to a lifeless organization.

Ryans may be a first-time, defensive-minded head coach, but he knows all about the importance of great quarterback play. Houston is probably drafting Davis Mills’ replacement, almost certainly Ryans’ fellow Alabama guy, Bryce Young. With over $37 million in cap space, Houston can afford to trade up to No. 1, give up the No. 12 pick in the process and still land a star wide receiver like Allen.

With a great offseason, the Texans could be in position to win the division they used to dominate.
