Super Bowl favorites all-time against the spread record (Will Eagles cover?)

Super Bowl 57 features the No. 1 seed Kansas City Chiefs and the No. 1 seed Philadelphia Eagles, making for an extremely close game in the minds of Vegas.

The current point spread is just 1.5 but it has moved from Eagles -2 and Eagles -2.5 since opening.

Over the last 22 seasons, there have been just three other Super Bowls with a spread of less than three points.

How does that impact who will cover in this game? Well, things have been pretty even so far, at least against the spread, between favorites and underdogs.

How have favorites fared against the spread in the Super Bowl?

As crazy as it may seem, favorites and underdogs are actually even against the spread through the first 56 Super Bowls.

They have both gone 27-27-2 against the spread, but over the last 15 years favorites have struggled, going just 5-10 ATS and 7-8 straight up.

That’s not great news for Eagles fans, but with this spread being so close, Vegas is really signaling that this should be an even fought matchup. For Philly to cover the current spread, it needs to win Super Bowl 57 by two or more points.

Philly is coming into this game off of two dominant wins in the playoffs, but Patrick Mahomes is by far the best quarterback the team will play on this run. Still, the Eagles’ elite pass defense may help them get the win, and give favorites the all-time edge in the Super Bowl ATS.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
