CeeDee Lamb has strong words for criticism of Dak Prescott

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb doesn’t think quarterback Dak Prescott deserves the criticism that he gets.

The Dallas Cowboys‘ season once again ended early than they have expected, as they still haven’t made it past the Divisional Round since the 1995 season. The Cowboys lost 19-12 to the San Francisco 49ers to miss out on a spot in the NFC Championship Game, and quarterback Dak Prescott was under fire from fans and media for his performance. It’s not just in that game, but also throughout this season and in previous years.

While speaking with Mike Florio and Chris Simms on PFT Live, Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb said he doesn’t believe Prescott deserves the criticism that he receives from fans and media.

“I don’t think anyone deserves the criticism he gets. They are crazy, bro,” Lamb said, h/t ProFootballTalk. “You’ve got to understand. It’s football. A lot of other people get paid to make plays. But the way that he gets talked about is crazy. It’s wild. I don’t think he deserves it.”

Cowboys: CeeDee Lamb doesn’t think Dak Prescott deserves the criticism he receives

Prescott missed five games this season after breaking his right thumb. Even with his absence, which was believed to be huge at the time, the Cowboys won four of their next five games with Cooper Rush starting in his place. Prescott returned in Week 7 and played throughout the remainder of the season. One point of criticism that Prescott received is that he led the league in interceptions with 15 despite playing in 12 games.

The Cowboys quarterback did shine in the Wild Card Round, completing 75.8-percent of his passes for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the 31-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But in the Divisional Round, Prescott struggled against San Francisco’s league-best defense, throwing for 206 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the game.

Dallas has already begun to overhaul the offense, parting ways from assistant coaches and even mutually moving on from offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who later went on to take the same position with the Los Angeles Chargers. Now, head coach Mike McCarthy will call the plays, with Brian Schottenheimer being the new offensive coordinator.

The Cowboys could stand to do more this offseason, potentially adding a wide receiver. After all, they did trade away their deep threat pass-catcher in Amari Cooper to the Cleveland Browns, who went on to record 78 receptions for 1,160 yards and nine touchdowns. There are options in free agency. Or they could use a high draft pick on a wide-receiver. FanSided’s Cody Williams has the Cowboys taking Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt in his latest mock draft.

When it comes to the criticism Prescott has been facing, Lamb let it be known that he doesn’t get it, and that he always has his quarterback’s back.
