Patrick Mahomes injury update: Chiefs QB has great news, as do all his friends
The Kansas City Chiefs got great injury news on Patrick Mahomes heading into Super Bowl weekend. We’re all clear.
Kansas City has no excuses heading into Super Bowl 57. They have the perfect slate.
While most teams offer some form of injury update heading into the Super Bowl — including the common cold — the Chiefs have no players listed on their report, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
It’s tough to argue with that logic.
Kansas City has a tough task ahead of it, as the Philadelphia Eagles are, arguably, the more complete roster top to bottom. Nonetheless, the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes — the best quarterback in football and 2022-23 regular season MVP. Will he be able to break the recent trend of MVP quarterbacks losing in the big game?
At the very least, he will be healthy to find out.
Patrick Mahomes injury update: Chiefs QB is fully healthy
We’ve all been watching Mahomes high ankle sprain like a hawk the last few weeks. He played admirably, albeit hobbled, against the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game. It was a legendary performance, and one that earned Kansas City a spot in the Super Bowl and perhaps Mahomes his own moment of postseason lore.
Not only is Mahomes fully clear, some of his teammates and targets are, as well. JuJu Smith-Schuster and Kadarius Toney, after two weeks to heal up, should be ready for Sunday night. Mahomes will have his full group of usual targets.
Mecole Hardman, of course, will not play, as he was ruled out and placed on injured reserve to make room for Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who re-enters the fold of the Kansas City backfield. It’s unclear how much of an impact he’ll have given the emergence of Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon.
