Chiefs screwed over by refs on clear missed pass interference call (Video)
The Chiefs got completely hosed by the refs early in Super Bowl 57 as the officials missed a blatant pass interference call.
As expected, the action was fast early on in Super Bowl 57 between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, though, it might’ve also been a little too fast and too furious for the referees to handle.
In the first half with Kansas City trying to get a drive going, Mahomes looked to veteran JuJu Smith-Schuster coming on a crossing route over the middle of the field. The quarterback seemed to let loose a good ball but it was out of reach. Smith-Schuster, however, wanted a flag on the play.
That was for good reason, too. According to the replay, it looked like Eagles cornerback James Bradberry definitely got away with pass interference on the play.
Refs screw Chiefs on blatant missed Eagles pass interference call
Roger Goodell, your thoughts?
Ah yes, commissioner. The officiating has been top-notch. Especially when they are missing this type of call in the biggest game of the year. Makes total sense.
It doesn’t help that referee Carl Cheffers was on the officiating crew for Super Bowl 57, a ref that many fans in Kansas City will tell you has been none too kind to the Chiefs. In fact, they might tell you this isn’t the first time that he’s screwed them over with a call.
In any case, Kansas City did respond well enough after falling behind 14-7 with a scoop-and-score off a Jalen Hurts fumble to tie it up. The Eagles, however, drove down and took the lead just before halftime.
