Chris Stapleton’s Super Bowl National Anthem made Nick Sirianni cry (Video)

Chris Stapleton’s performance of the national anthem at Super Bowl 57 had Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and center Jason Kelce in tears.

Whoever made the decision that Chris Stapleton would sing the national anthem before Super Bowl 57, first, needs a raise and second, needs to apologize to Nick Sirianni for letting such a soulful singer handle the anthem on the day he’d be coaching in the Super Bowl.

The Eagles head coach was so overcome by emotion during Stapleton’s rendition that he had tears streaming down his face.

Cameras got the close-up as Sirianni let loose:

To be fair, Sirianni might have cried no matter who was singing the anthem. Tom Rinaldi reported earlier in the Super Bowl broadcast that the head coach has made it a habit to play Whitney Houston’s iconic rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner while envisioning himself on the sideline coaching a Super Bowl.

It was always going to be an emotional moment and Sirianni seemed to feel every bit of it.

He wasn’t the only one who had the anthem get to him. Eagles center Jason Kelce was also choked up.

Let’s take nothing away from Stapleton though. His rendition should go down as a classic — the right away to perform the anthem. He didn’t try to do too much even as he gave it his own personal touch.

Here’s the full performance by the incomparable Stapleton:

That singing might have even calmed down the rowdy crowds in Philadelphia who were caught flipping cars before the game had even started.

Sirianni took over as head coach in 2021 after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Colts. He went 9-8 in his debut season before guiding the Eagles to an outstanding 2022 season with a 14-3 record in the regular season and a trip to the Super Bowl.

Very few coaches ever get to lead their team to the Super Bowl, let alone do it in just their second year in charge. You can bet he’s going to relish every second of the opportunity.
