Eli Apple actually said something we can all agree with about Super Bowl 57

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple had a take that many fans can agree upon after watching the end of Super Bowl 57.

NFL fans tuned into Super Bowl 57 to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles compete for the Lombardi Trophy. As is the case in any game, whether a regular-season game or a championship contest, fans don’t want to see calls by officials make a difference in the game. At the end of Super Bowl 57, a controversial holding call on Eagles cornerback James Bradberry gave the Chiefs a new set of downs, which then set up a 27-yard, game-winning field goal by Harrison Butker. The Chiefs won Super Bowl 57 by the score of 38-35.

After the game, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Eli Apple may have a take that fans who didn’t like the officiating can agree with. The controversial quarterback who receives hate for his trash talking on social media said “refs win the bowl again.”

The play in question saw Chiefs quarterback Mahomes target wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster late in the fourth quarter, but it fell incomplete. Referees determined that Bradberry, who was covering Smith-Schuster, held the receiver on that play.

While fans and media members are debating about the call, Bradberry was honest with his assessment of the play. Bradberry said that he did hold Smith-Schuster and was hoping the referees wouldn’t call it and would “let it slide.”

There were some other controversial calls in Super Bowl 57, like the pass interference non-call in the first half, and the various catch/non-catch debates throughout.

It certainly wasn’t the way that the Eagles faithful wanted the game to end, but Bradberry admitted that he was holding Smith-Schuster on that pivotal play late in the fourth quarter. As for the Chiefs, they are celebrating their third Super Bowl win in franchise history, and their second in the past four seasons.

As for Apple, he is set to become an unrestricted free agent after spending the past two seasons with the Bengals.
