Justin Fields wants to be like Aaron Rodgers when he grows up
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields said he leans on Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers for advice, and they text from time to time.
Justin Fields made headlines early Thursday by suggesting that the Bears new stadium at Arlington Heights — if built — should be a dome. The organization is still deciding a timeline for a new stadium, or if they want to leave Soldier Field to begin with.
“Yes, it is very difficult to adjust to it, especially with the wind,” Fields said, via NBCChicago.com. “That’s what I found out. That’s what it’s all about, is the wind. It can be cold. It can be 10 degrees. But, with no wind you’re fine. But with that 15 mile per hour wind, that 20 mile per hour wind, you can’t fight it, it’s tough. When it’s that cold, you have to bundle up. I feel way slower in that cold. It’s hard to stay warm in that weather.”
But that’s not all Fields said. The comment about a new Bears stadium overshadowed what Field said about rival Aaron Rodgers.
Justin Fields and Aaron Rodgers are…friends?
Yes, Aaron Rodgers is going on a darkness retreat. And yes, he’s not the most well-liked person in the world outside of Green Bay. He’s a tremendous talent at the quarterback position, though, and there are worse players for Fields to learn from.
Chicago sports fans, being Chicago sports fans, took offense to this comment. They hate Rodgers most of all. Why would Fields sleep with the enemy?
In this case, Fields is the only player with something to gain. If Rodgers is bestowing some quarterback knowledge on the Ohio State product, then he might as well take it. What does Fields have to lose?
Rodgers may ‘own’ the Bears, as he puts it, but Fields bright future suggests there could be a new sheriff in town sooner rather than later. Rodgers advice will only help matters.
