3 teams that should sign Leonard Fournette to increase Super Bowl odds

Leonard Fournette is searching for a new team after the announcement that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers would release him when the new league year begins on March 15.

Only 28 years old, Fournette was a valuable playoff contributor for Tampa Bay and accumulated over 1,000 yards each of the last two seasons with 16 total touchdowns.

With a number of teams in need of running back depth, here are three teams that should sign “Lombardi Lenny” to increase their Super Bowl odds:

3 Teams That Should Sign Leonard Fournette

The Dolphins have precisely zero running backs under contract for next season. That’s right – ZERO. Obviously, that’ll change over the next few months, and Miami’s explosive offense would give Fournette space to utilize his battering skillset.

Fournette’s development as a receiver would pay dividends in the Dolphins’ offense as well and give Mike McDaniel more weapons to get creative with.

Sitting at +3000 to win the Super Bowl, signing Fournette could move the needle in Miami’s direction.

Philadelphia Eagles

Given the sheer number of key free agents the Eagles have this offseason, it’s certainly possible they decide not to give Miles Sanders a big contract. If they let Sanders walk, Fournette makes a lot of sense as a cheaper option.

Fournette is not as slippery as Sanders, but the Eagles’ offensive line is so good that he’d still have room to operate.

Can you imagine trying to stop Jalen Hurts and Fournette in short-yardage situations? Good luck with that.

Los Angeles Chargers

Super Bowl 2024

Of course, Fournette would never unseat Austin Ekeler as the undisputed king of Los Angeles’ backfield. But Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller were both unimpressive this year, so adding some depth behind Ekeler could help keep him fresh.

In the disastrous situation that Ekeler missed time, Fournette could step in and serve as a “Best Choice” version of the dual-threat running back.

Given the fact that it is in the AFC West, Los Angeles has no room for error. Signing Fournette would give the Chargers some breathing room and even allow Ekeler to get some rest after wracking up over 275 touches each of the last two seasons.

Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
