NFL teams think there are better quarterbacks to draft in 2024
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer told Rich Eisen on his radio show that NFL teams think there are better quarterbacks to be drafted in the near future than will be available in 2023.
That’s a bold statement considering there is definitely talent at the position this year. Bryce Young and CJ Stroud are expected to be selected in the top five… Hendon Hooker is a later draft pick but his ceiling is as high as both of those players. Hookers’ stock has been hit by an ACL tear he suffered last fall.
Breer pointed to USC’s Caleb Williams and North Carolina’s Drake Maye as prospects teams think will be better.
He also pointed to how this may impact the Bears’ decision to trade the No. 1 overall pick. If they believe there is a better chance to win with Williams or Maye, they may be better off getting rid of the No. 1 overall pick, seeing how things go with Fields leading the show again next year, and trying for one of the top-tier QBs available in next year’s draft if needed.
