NHL best bets today (Bet on Blackhawks as underdogs)

Betting on the NHL has been an absolute grind for me lately. I’m not going to hide from it, I’ve been cold. There’s no doubt about that.

But, I’m still up 10 units on the season, and I’m determined to get hot again.

So, let’s try to start a hot streak tonight, shall we?

Let’s dive into my best bets.

NHL best bets record season-to-date

NHL best bets today

  • Red Wings/Senators UNDER 6.5 (-115)
  • Flames +112 vs. Bruins
  • Blackhawks +155 vs. Coyotes

Red Wings/Senators UNDER 6.5 (-115)

No, I did not accidently copy and paste from yesterday’s article. Yes, the Red Wings and Senators are playing in Ottawa for the second-straight day. This almost never happens in the NHL, but a game between these two teams was postponed due to weather in December, so yesterday’s game served as the makeup.

Now, they’ll play again in the originally scheduled showdown. I made this exact same bet yesterday and it lost, but now we know that Ville Husso is in net for the Red Wings, and he has been hot in February with a .926 save percentage in nine starts this month.

Even though there were eight goals scored yesterday, the expected goals scored in the game was 6.33, so I’m confident in the exact same bet tonight as long as we get solid play between the two goaltenders.

Flames +112 vs. Bruins

I may go broke betting against the Bruins this season, but I’m going to keep doing it. The Flames are 1st in the NHL in CORSI% (which measures all types of shot attempts for and against) while the Bruins rank 17th.

The Flames also outrank the Bruins in both expected goals for and expected goals against over their last 10 games.

I know the Bruins are the best team in the NHL, but I have to trust the advanced analytics in this game and take Calgary as a home underdog.

Blackhawks +155 vs. Coyotes

No team should be as big of a favorite as the Coyotes are in this game. That’s especially the case when you consider the Blackhawks outrank the Coyotes in CORSI%, expected goals, and high-danger scoring chances over their last 10 games.

No team as bad as the Coyotes should be this big of favorites, no matter who they’re playing. I’ll take a shot on Chicago as a sizable underdog.

Odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
