NFL rumors: Surprise team emerges as a threat to land Aaron Rodgers

There is a new team that has emerged as a potential landing spot for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

For those NFL fans wondering if Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers announced where he wants to play in 2023, the answer is not just yet. During an appearance on the “Aubrey Marcus podcast,” Rodgers said he hasn’t come to a decision just yet, but it will come “soon enough,” citing that he doesn’t want to leave anyone waiting too long. It’s no secret that one of the interested teams is the New York Jets, who are in desperate need of a quarterback to lead their roster. However, a new team has emerged in the Rodgers sweepstakes.

During an appearance on ESPN’s NFL live, senior NFL insider Adam Schefter said that the Carolina Panthers called the Packers to inquire about a trade for Rodgers.

Panthers reportedly called Packers about Aaron Rodgers trade

A new challenger has entered the competition.

The Panthers are in position to make a play for a quarterback this offseason. They currently hold the No. 9 overall pick and are in position to draft one of the top four quarterback prospects in this year’s NFL Draft class. Not to mention they could explore the free agency front, which they currently are, as they met with Derek Carr at the NFL Scouting Combine.

If the Panthers were to land Rodgers, that would be quite the landing spot. Their defense is stacked on paper, and they could make some additions on the offensive side of the line of scrimmage. Not to mention that the Panthers’ head coach is Frank Reich, who is known for getting the most out of his quarterbacks.

While the Panthers reportedly made a call to the Packers, the decision is out of their hands. It will be up to Rodgers, who has to decide if he wants to play elsewhere, remain in Green Bay, or opt to retire.

As the NFL waits on Rodgers’ decision, the Panthers are the latest team to keep an eye on as a potential trade destination.
