Saints’ Super Bowl and NFC South odds following reported Derek Carr signing
The New Orleans Saints have their quarterback, as they reportedly are closing in on a deal with former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.
The move hasn’t shifted the Saints’ odds in the futures market just yet. They are +5000 to win the Super Bowl in the 2023 season and tied with the Carolina Panthers at +210 to win the NFC South division.

Carr is an upgrade on Andy Dalton, who started the majority of the Saints’ games in the 2022 season, but he may not make the team an outright favorite to win arguably the worst division in the NFL.
New Orleans had been rumored to be in the market for Carr for quite some time, although it was unable to trade for the former Raiders quarterback. Instead, the Saints played the long game and are set to sign Carr as a free agent.
The Raiders released Carr to avoid having to guarantee his salary for the upcoming season. The Panthers were also interested in Carr, which makes this a big grab for the Saints since they kept him from a division rival.
New Orleans doesn’t have its first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft since it traded it to the Philadelphia Eagles, so the team needed to find a quarterback elsewhere ahead of the 2023 season.
The Saints also have Jameis Winston on the roster, but his future with the team is uncertain now that Carr is expected to join the team.
Last season, Carr threw for 3,522 yards and 24 touchdowns in 15 games. He also threw a career-high 14 interceptions, the second straight season that he has thrown 14 picks.
If you’re high on Carr, this is a good time to bet on the Saints to win the NFC South, as there is still some value at +210. However, it’s likely the odds will move once the move is official.
