AI used to recreate The Simpsons as a real-life drama and it's very weird – The Mirror

YouTuber The Pharoah Nerd has shared a video of The Simpsons as ‘an 80’s sitcom’ and it shows iconic characters including Homer, Marge, and Chief Wiggum as real people
Artificial Intelligence is all the rage at the minute, as a student used it to write a university essay, experts say it could change sport, and some fear it could turn on us and one day wipe out humanity.
But does any of that really matter? So far, the emerging tech's potential has been squandered – until now, as one YouTuber known as The Pharoah Nerd has put it to good use.
They used AI to reimagine The Simpsons as a real-life drama, with human actors playing Homer, Marge, Ned Flanders, and Chief Wiggum, to name a few.
Now you can see just what Marge's hair would have looked like in real life, and what a looker Ned Flanders turned out to be – but be warned, the video is quite unsettling to seasoned Simpson fans.
What do you think about The Simpsons? Let us know in the comments…
The video, named "The Simpsons as an 80's Sitcom" is a new version of the show's iconic intro, complete with billowing white clouds and cutaways of the main characters.
The first is Homer Simpson, who looks distinctly odd without his iconic yellow skin – but thankfully he's still bald with characteristic middle-aged spread.
Next is Marge, whose hair is still blue but it is wider than it is tall, and then there's Chief Wiggum – who looks… interesting.
The Simpsons'dog, Santa's Little Helper, is also included – although he appeared to be a greyhound in this new version.
The video proved popular on YouTube as soon it had over 50,000 likes and over 3,000 comments.
One fan said: "I love how Nelson looks way too old for his grade, makes him the perfect bully."
And another joked: "James Gandolfini really played an amazing Homer! It's astonishing how he manages to switch from this character to Tony Soprano almost effortlessly."
A third added: "Why? How is this so perfect? The theme, the characters' actors, the overall vibe. This is great."
And a fourth simply wrote: "Scary how real it looks."
