Jets Super Bowl odds make big move amidst Aaron Rodgers trade rumors

A divorce between Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers seems inevitable at this point and the most logical landing spot for the polarizing MVP quarterback is the New York Jets.

Rumors of ongoing meetings between the two sides materialized late Monday evening and were substantiated this afternoon by additional reports of Rodgers and the Jets brass discussing what a future in a new shade of green would look like.

Vegas, a city like New York that also doesn’t sleep, clearly caught wind of this news because the Jets’ Super Bowl odds have changed.

Over at BetMGM, the Jets were +2500 to win the Super Bowl on Monday, but today they’ve moved all the way down to +1800.

There have been rumblings about Rodgers to the Jets for the majority of the offseason. The Packers have hinted they’re ready to move on and give former first-round pick Jordan Love the reigns and Rodgers has been coy about his future in Green Bay since the Packers lost to the Detroit Lions in the season finale.

The Jets had one of the best defenses in the NFL in 2022 and several outstanding skill-position players on offense too. The only thing they didn’t have was an elite (or even serviceable) starting quarterback, which ultimately derailed their playoff push.

Former second-overall pick Zach Wilson was benched following some terrible play and an even worse post-game interview performance last year. Initial backup Mike White provided a momentary spark for the Jets, but he’s better suited as a backup and certainly not elite enough to compete against the likes of Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen or Joe Burrow in the AFC.

Rodgers would give the Jets what they need at QB to compete against the best. While he’s only appeared in one Super Bowl and failed to lift the Packers back since, and while his off-field views and interviews have also created issues, his talent is undeniable. Adding him puts the Jets in the mix in the AFC and that’s why their odds are moving so quickly.

Odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.
