Updated 2023 NFL Draft order after Panthers trade up to No. 1 with Bears

The Chicago Bears have traded their No. 1 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers in a gargantuan trade. Here’s what the 2023 NFL Draft order looks like now.

Ever since the regular season ended, the NFL world was watching the Chicago Bears, the holder of the No. 1 overall pick. When looking at their roster, they seemingly have their quarterback for the foreseeable future in Justin Fields. Not just that, but there were a handful of teams selecting in the Top 10 of the 2023 NFL Draft that needed a quarterback. The Bears could get a haul in return for that selection, and they were reportedly open for business.

The Bears found a buyer in the Carolina Panthers.

NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport broke the news that the Panthers acquired the No. 1 overall pick from the Bears. ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that in exchange for the No. 1 overall selection, the Panthers sent over the No. 9 and 61 picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, a 2024 first-round pick, a 2025 second-round pick, and wide receiver D.J. Moore!

With the NFL Draft order officially shaken up, let’s take a look at how the first- and second-round draft order looks like.

The Panthers have their pick of the top four quarterback prospects in Alabama’s Bryce Young, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, Kentucky’s Will Levis, and Florida’s Anthony Richardson. Meanwhile, the Bears get much-needed draft capital to continue to build their team into a contender.

With the Texans set to pick second, who will be unlikely to surrender their pick, all eyes will be on the Arizona Cardinals, who don’t have a need at quarterback. Teams like the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders are teams to keep an eye on to eye a move up to ensure they get one of the top prospects.

The 2023 NFL Draft has gotten that much more interesting. Now, we wait until April 27 to see who the Panthers will select to be their quarterback of the future and face of the franchise.
