Mysterious lights have been reported across San Diego on Monday night.
CBS 8 viewers have sent in videos showing strange, mysterious lights floating in skies across San Diego.
“I just started taking a video and i couldn’t believe what I saw,” said Teluryde Dedominicis of Pacific Beach.
Dedominicis says the lights appeared out of thin air north of Crystal Pier, and stuck around for about 15 minutes.
“I don’t think they were anything normal cuz they appeared out of nowhere and were there for five minutes, two lights, and then they vanished out of nowhere and then five minutes later, five more came and they hovered and moved in sync with each other,” said Dedominicis.
So, what exactly were they?
After several calls to various agencies, as well as the military, the Coast Guard told CBS8 one of their helicopters saw the lights and flew to them.
They were able to chat air-to-air with an Air Force aircraft who told Coast Guard Pilots they were performing exercises involving flares.
This isn’t the first time lights like these have appeared in our area.
CBS8 covered a similar sighting back in late June.
At the time, the Coast Guard confirmed they were flares being dropped from a Navy C130 plane, and were possibly attached to a parachute, which is why they stayed in place and lingered for so long.
