NFL rumors: Packers unreasonable trade demands for Aaron Rodgers revealed

The Green Bay Packers reportedly want a first-round pick and more for Aaron Rodgers. Will the New York Jets give it to them?

Aaron Rodgers is a future Hall of Famer, that cannot be denied. However, he is entering his age-39 season and is coming off a down year.

Rodgers let it be known that he wants to play for the New York Jets when he spoke on the matter with Pat McAfee. He appeared fed up with how the Packers treat their veteran players, but he did give Green Bay some leverage by commenting on the matter.

What could Green Bay possibly want for Rodgers? Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Packers are demanding more than just a first-round pick for No. 12.

The Jets, per Florio, think the Packers are being unreasonable on the matter. Yet, Green Bay has plenty of time to wait, as Rodgers cap hit doesn’t kick in until Week 1.

NFL rumors: Packers asking price for Aaron Rodgers revealed

Mike Florio outlined the Packers demands in his morning article on PFT:

“The Packers want more than a first-round pick as part of the base deal. They want protection in 2025, in the event Rodgers plays in 2024. And that’s more than the Jets believe they should surrender for a player the Packers no longer want.

If the Jets are willing to offer something like a conditional package that would entail as much as a second-round pick this year and up to a second-round pick next year, the Packers would be nuts to not take it.”

The problem with this strategy is that the Jets aren’t in much of a rush to trade for Rodgers. They can wait until training camp if need be. Rodgers knows their offense because he’s run it before — former Green Bay OC Nathaniel Hackett is in Jets colors now.

Brian Gutekunst wants his moment to shine, and receiving a bounty for Rodgers would be it. However, the Jets are not inclined to agree for now.
