Browns: Elijah Moore’s first impression of Deshaun Watson is entirely cringe
The Cleveland Browns traded for former New York Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore earlier this week. He’s excited to play with Deshaun Watson.
Elijah Moore wanted out of New York, and he got his wish.
The former Ole Miss Rebels star wanted to play with what he termed as a “real” quarterback, not Zach Wilson or Mike White. Despite the Jets looming interest in Aaron Rodgers, Moore was not kept around to see the final product of this New York offense.
Instead, he was dealt to Cleveland in the following trade:
Browns Get
WR, Elijah Moore
2023 pick No. 74
Jets Get
2023 pick No. 42
The trade gives the Jets back-to-back selections in the second round.
Browns: What Elijah Moore said about Deshaun Watson
Watson was suspended for the first 11 games of the 2022 season after 24 civil suits were filed against him. The former Houston Texans quarterback was accused of sexual assault, among other crimes.
Still, that didn’t stop Moore from praising his new quarterback, at least in terms of his on-field ability.
“He’s a legit quarterback,” Moore said, according to 923TheFan.com. “It’s someone that has been doing some amazing things around the league. He has respect from everybody around the league. They talk really highly about him here and they believe in him, and man, with him being my quarterback, I believe in him too.”
Moore caught 43 passes and scored five touchdowns in his rookie season in 2021, but failed to back that up much last year.
This season will be a big one for the Browns and Watson. There are no more excuses. The former Pro Bowler will have a full offseason to work with his new targets. Should he not return to form, Cleveland will have wasted approximately $230 million, and reset the quarterback market in the process.
