Mike McDaniel throws a hot pot of coffee on those cheapskate Commanders

Hopefully, Mike McDaniel gets to have free coffee coaching the Miami Dolphins these days.

I would have given Mike McDaniel free coffee if I owned the Washington Commanders, but that’s just me.

The Miami Dolphins head coach was at the NFL meetings on Monday. While he was doing the media rounds, he certainly had some things to say about how much the I-guess-they-are-for-sale Washington Commanders could fetch on the open market. McDaniel, who was on Mike Shanahan’s staff in Washington a decade ago, could not even get free coffee at the team facility…

It is official. I have a new favorite head coach in the NFL, and it is this clever coffee connoisseur.

Of course, Washington would find a way to make a mockery of people because Daniel Snyder runs his franchise like a horrific theme park on Rollercoaster Tycoon.

Mike McDaniel just wanted some free coffee from the Washington Commanders

It was a long time ago, but some things never change. McDaniel was only a few years into his coaching career. This means a lot of long hours and sleepless nights. So if the man wanted some coffee that he didn’t have to pay for, one would think that his NFL employer would cover the bill. Washington is on a shortlist of cheapskates with the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Chargers.

I mean, are you really mad about what McDaniel said? Washington somehow found a way to make a complete mockery of the late Sean Taylor twice, so nothing is beneath the Commanders from finding new and creative ways to alienate people from all over the globe. Perhaps those pipes bursting on people at FedEx Field were where the coffee was being stored? They are a disgrace.

So the next time the Dolphins play the Commanders, I hope McDaniel has a cup of joe in his hand instead of a vape pen while calling plays. It may be a tad out of character for him, but you would be lying to yourself if you did not appreciate the inherent pettiness. When the Commanders are bought by Jeff Bezos for $7 billion, let’s hope Ron Rivera no longer has to pay for a cup of coffee.

As with everything in Washington, you give the people money and you never know where it goes…
