Bryce Young favored to be No. 1 pick in 2023 NFL Draft over CJ Stroud

Just like that, less than three weeks before the NFL Draft, Bryce Young is the favorite to be the No. 1 pick again.

After opening as the favorite and falling behind Ohio State quarterback, CJ Stroud, on the odds board after the Panthers traded with the Bears for the No. 1 pick last month, Young has emerged as the odds on favorite to hear his name called first on April 27th.

Young, the 2021 Heisman Trophy winner, was the early favorite to be the No. 1 pick but questions around his height and the Panthers reported preference in Stroud drove the Ohio State product to become the heavy favorite up until last week.

2023 No. 1 pick odds

Slowly, momentum has been building towards Young surpassing Stroud in the betting market. However, this process seems to be ongoing, as Ian Rappaport of NFL Network highlighted on Monday afternoon.

Carolina traded the No. 9 pick, No. 61 pick, a 2024 first-round pick and 2025 second-round pick in addition to star receiver DJ Moore to move up to No. 1 in a trade with Chicago back on March 10th to take control of the draft board.

While we don’t know who the Panthers are selecting just yet, the prevailing sentiment is that momentum is building towards Young being the selection and face of the franchise. Stay tuned as a possible chaotic draft night is 17 days away.
