Cowboys: Did Micah Parsons take a shot at Daniel Jones?
Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons took an unintentional shot at Daniel Jones of the rival New York Giants.
When the Cowboys face off against the New York Giants, Micah Parsons and Co. primarily prepare for Saquon Barkley, not quarterback Daniel Jones. Barkley and the run game is the bread and butter of the Giants offense, but Jones just received a new contract.
Jones signed a four-year, $160 million contract this offseason. The deal was much-maligned, but the alternative was a franchise tag at a higher AAV. The Giants believe in Jones enough to commit to him long-term, especially after the strides he made with Brian Daboll last season.
Cowboys: Did Micah Parsons take a shot at Daniel Jones?
“I mean yeah that’s what happens when you the best players on your team you idiot!! The scheme on Monday morning is we well not let SAQUON BARKLEY BEAT Us!! People just think we be out here playing free for all!! like gtfo! That mf is that offense! Pay him!” Parsons wrote on Twitter when approached by a fan about Barkley’s contract negotiations.
As for Barkley, he has yet to sign the franchise tag and is hoping for his own long-term deal. It’s not ideal for New York, as Barkley is reportedly holding out for a contract north of Christian McCaffrey’s, or near it. The main difference there is age, and Barkley’s legs are quickly giving out on him. Pro Football Talk laid out Barkley’s situation in a recent article:
“With the franchise tag, Barkley can either sign a one-year, $10.1 million contract to remain with the Giants, or negotiate a long-term deal. The running back market is soft as teams increasingly conclude that the position is not particularly important to winning in the modern NFL, but Parsons thinks Barkley deserves everything he can get.”
It’s clear why Barkley would prefer a multiyear commitment from the Giants, as his value decreases every year. New York seems to prioritize Jones as the face of their offense, however, regardless of what Parsons says.
