NFL Rumors: Jalen Hurts hidden contract details, Patrick Mahomes injury, surprise QB2
NFL Rumors: Could the Houston Texans select Will Levis?
Among players not named C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young, Kentucky quarterback Will Levis has surprisingly moved into the third-most likely player taken at No. 2 overall by the Houston Texans.
It’s an open secret that Levis met with Houston brass, and impressed them at that. Despite his shoddy statistics in his final season at Kentucky — 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, in which nine of those touchdowns came against non-Power 5 competition — Levis has looked good on tape, at Pro Days and at the NFL Combine.
“From the teams that went to dinner with him, the Carolina Panthers, the Las Vegas Raiders spent time with him, Mike Vrabel from the Tennessee Titans spent time with him,” Ian Rapoport said “(Levis) actually pretty quietly had a top-30 visit with the Houston Texans; that happened over the last several weeks.”
In two seasons at Kentucky, Levis had 5,232 yards with 43 touchdowns and 23 interceptions, and a completion percentage over 66 percent. Most of that damage was done in his first year in Lexington, however. Last season was a bit of a disappointment.
The NFL is a quarterback-driven league, so it’s not a surprise to see the likes of Levis, Anthony Richardson and Hendon Hooker all sneak up draft boards. It would be a shocker if all work out as planned, however.
